MOT Booking Terms & Conditions

1. Payment & Pricing

  • Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your MOT slot.
  • The MOT fee covers the testing procedure itself and is non-refundable once testing begins, regardless of whether the vehicle passes, fails, or receives a refusal to test due to pre-existing vehicle conditions.

2. Cancellations, Rescheduling & Late Arrivals

  • More than 24 hours’ notice: You may cancel for a full refund or reschedule to another available date free of charge.
  • Less than 24 hours’ notice: No refund will be issued. However, you may reschedule your appointment to another date (limited to one reschedule, which must be taken within 30 days of the original date).
  • Late arrivals: If you arrive late and our testers cannot carry out the test without disrupting subsequent bookings, we will offer to reschedule your appointment. If you decline or are unable to reschedule, no refund will be provided.
  • No-shows: Failure to attend your scheduled appointment without prior notice forfeits the full booking fee.

3. Vehicle Requirements & Pre-Conditions To allow our testers to safely carry out the MOT in accordance with DVSA regulations, your vehicle must meet the following conditions upon arrival:

  • Fluids & Fuel: Adequate fuel, engine oil, and coolant levels to permit mandatory emissions, braking, and engine checks.
  • Cleanliness & Access: The vehicle interior and boot must be reasonably clean and free of excessive clutter to allow tester access to seatbelts, anchorages, and emergency equipment.
  • Keys & Adapters: Any locking wheel nut keys or specialized security adapters must be placed visibly inside the vehicle.

If a vehicle is deemed unsafe, inaccessible, or lacking essential fluids, the tester will issue a formal DVSA “Refusal to Test.” The test fee remains non-refundable in these circumstances.

4. Re-Test Policy (In accordance with DVSA guidelines)

  • If your vehicle fails the test, you are entitled to a free or discounted re-test if the vehicle is repaired and presented for re-examination within 10 working days of the initial failure.
  • If the vehicle is returned after 10 working days, a new booking and full MOT fee will apply.

5. Dangerous Defects & Vehicle Collection

  • Dangerous Failures: If a vehicle is assessed with a “Dangerous” defect under DVSA criteria, it cannot legally be driven on public roads. You must arrange for on-site repair, a recovery service, or transport; we cannot permit the vehicle to be driven away under its own power.
  • Collection: Vehicles must be collected before the close of business on the day of the test unless prior overnight arrangements have been agreed upon in writing. Uncollected vehicles may be subject to a daily storage fee.
