Cookie Policy

*Last updated: 4 August 2026*

This policy explains how Cheriton Motor House uses cookies and similar technologies on
cheritonmotorhouse.co.uk, what each one does, and how you
can control them.

It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle
personal information more generally.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. They let a site remember
things between pages and visits — for example, that you’re logged in, or that you’ve already
made a choice about cookies.

We also use two related technologies, which this policy covers in the same way:

  • Local storage — similar to cookies, but the information stays in your browser rather
than being sent to our server with every page request.
  • Pixels and tags — small pieces of code that let us or our advertising partners measure
whether an advert led to a booking.

Where this policy says “cookies”, it means all three.

Your choices

When you first visit the site, a banner asks which cookies you’re happy for us to use.

  • Necessary cookies are always on. The site and the MOT booking system cannot work
without them, so they don’t require your permission.
  • Analytics and Advertising cookies are off unless you turn them on. We do not
set them if you ignore the banner or choose “Reject all”.

You can change your mind at any time — it’s as easy to withdraw permission as it was to give
it. Use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page. If you
turn off analytics and advertising cookies, we delete the ones already stored.

Your choice is remembered for 6 months, after which we’ll ask again.

Cookies we use

Strictly necessary

These are required for the website and the booking system to function. They’re set
regardless of your cookie choices, because without them the site would not work.

Analytics — only with your permission

These help us understand how the site is used, so we can improve it. They tell us things
like which pages are visited, how people arrive at the site, and where visitors give up
during the booking process. We use Google Analytics 4 for this.

Advertising — only with your permission

These let us measure whether our Google Ads adverts lead to bookings or enquiries, so we
don’t waste money on advertising that doesn’t work.

Who else is involved

We use Google (Google Ireland Limited) for analytics and advertising measurement. When
you allow analytics or advertising cookies, information about your visit is shared with
Google, which may process it outside the UK.

You can read more in Google’s Privacy Policy and
how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

If you have not allowed these cookies, we still send Google a signal that you have declined,
so that no identifying information about you is stored.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use cookies to build profiles about you beyond
measuring our own advertising.

Managing cookies in your browser

As well as our cookie settings, you can control cookies through your browser. Most browsers
let you see what’s stored, delete it, and block cookies from particular sites.

Blocking all cookies will stop parts of the site working, including the MOT booking system.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if we add or remove tools from the website. When we do, we’ll
update the date at the top of the page. If the change is significant, we’ll ask for your
cookie permissions again.
